"Put some respect on them"- Anthony William has finally spoken about essential oils. I'm giving you all the scoop so let's dive right into it.
He makes it very clear that essential oils should never be taken internally. EOs agitate the vagus nerve, liver and the intestinal track when taken internally and some people can be very sensitive to that. EOs are too strong to ingest and they often cause unnecessary discomfort like gastric spasm, elevated anxiety and tightness of the chest.
While diffusing is amazing for clearing the air from pathogens and refreshing the smell in the house, He warns that diffusing too much causes for the oil to stick around in the house which may lead to a problem. I found this information very interesting. He talks about how oils (of any kind) don't evaporate so they stay on our walls and furniture. That in itself is not an issue until we have a mold problem. When mold gets to a house that has a lot of oil embedded in the walls, it can very quickly make its home there and grow. He says it's still ok to diffuse, and it's about a million times better than using air fresheners, plug ins and toxic candles. However, be mindful how often you do it. Don't have your diffuser running all day every day.
Cleaning the diffuser.
He talks about the importance of cleaning the diffuser often. He recommends cleaning it with vinegar (any type will do) which takes care of mold that can sometimes accumulate there.
According to Anthony William, topical use of essential oils is fine, but we need to be very careful not to leave any excess oil on the skin which will later rub into our clothes, blankets, couch, sheets etc. As I mentioned above, Anthony talks about how oils don't evaporate, so all the excess oil we put on our skin soaks into whatever touches it. It sounds like not a big deal but, again, a true issue may arise once we have mold in the house which can quickly make its home in that oil soaked couch or blanket. So if you use essential oils topically, especially with a carrier oil, make sure to wipe off the excess so you don't leave it around.
Wash the oil off
If you happened to be one of those people who likes to rub oils all over, you have to make sure you wash your clothes well, and wash or even get rid of oil soaked blankets and sheets. He also suggests to pay extra attention to our mattresses and to protect them with a waterproof mattress cover.
Overall, when it comes to essential oils the golden rule has always been less is more. Don't overdo them and respect their power.
